Location: Boston, MA
Salary: $110K-$130K

We are a shipyard in Boston that prides itself on both the quality of our work and our strong, unique company culture. We specialize in the repair of U.S. military vessels as well as commercial and cruise ships.

Position Overview
The Structural Craft Manager oversees the structural steel fabrication, welding and shipfitting operations within the shipyard environment. This role is critical for ensuring that all work is executed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The manager will lead a team of multidisciplinary skilled craftsmen and coordinate efforts to meet project timelines and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the structural fabrication and welding teams in ship repair projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards throughout all phases of production and repair.
  • Coordinate workforce management to optimize labor efficiency and productivity on-site.
  • Oversee the shipfitting processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills of the workforce in ship-related structural tasks.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to align on project goals and timelines.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in ship repair or shipbuilding environments, specifically in structural welding and steel fabrication.
  • Strong background in workforce management and team leadership.
  • Expertise in shipfitting and hull erection processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of safety standards and quality assurance practices in the maritime industry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a diverse team.
