We are an innovative automation solutions organization with locations across North America and Canada. Due to our consistent growth, we are searching for a Controls Engineering Manager with strong experience in PLC, HMI, vision systems, robotics programming, team/project management, and control system design to lead our controls engineering team in Oakland County, MI.

Position Overview
The Controls Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the controls engineering team in the design, development, and implementation of automation and control systems. This role involves overseeing projects from conception to completion, ensuring that solutions meet client specifications and are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the controls engineering team to deliver high-quality automation solutions.
Oversee the design and programming of PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time delivery of projects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with other engineering disciplines.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures and best practices for controls engineering.
Mentor and train junior engineers in controls engineering principles and practices.
Conduct performance reviews and manage team performance to achieve departmental goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
7+ years experience in industrial controls engineering, with at least 2 years in a team lead or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of automation technologies, including PLC programming, HMI, robotics and vision systems development.
Experience with robotics and automation systems design and implementation.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and team members.
Hands on experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or ePLAN
Familiar with FANUC Roboguide, ABB RobotStudio, Visual Components, IGNITION is a plus
Background with equipment design standards such as ANSI, CSA, OHSA, CE, etc
